Small Steps, Big Intentions: Why I Support Ecologi

Content with purpose. That’s the heart of Emotive Eye. And it’s also why I give back through Ecologi.

In the world of content production, it’s easy to get swept up in the deadlines, the travel, the tech. There’s always another shoot, another edit, another story to tell. And while I love every part of what I do, there’s a reality behind the lens that’s impossible to ignore: this work has a footprint.

That awareness has grown steadily over the years — not just through reading or research, but through experience. I spend a lot of my time outdoors. Hiking. Climbing. Travelling the length of the UK to document spaces, people, and businesses. My connection to nature isn’t a hobby, it’s a way of thinking. And with that comes a responsibility to protect the very environments I rely on — personally and professionally.

In 2022, I began contributing monthly to Ecologi, a platform that funds global climate solutions through collective action. Since then, Emotive Eye has helped to:

  • Plant 438 trees
  • Avoid over 42 tonnes of CO₂ emissions
  • Support reforestation, renewable energy, and forest protection in countries including Peru, Thailand, Kenya, and Madagascar

This isn’t a marketing exercise or a green badge for the website. It’s a commitment that mirrors how I want to live — and how I want to run my business.

Why Ecologi?

Ecologi is a certified B Corp founded in the UK with a big, bold vision: to inspire and empower everyday people and businesses to take direct climate action. Instead of waiting for policy or politics to catch up, Ecologi built a platform that allows individuals and organisations to fund verified, high-impact climate projects around the world — from carbon avoidance and reforestation to habitat restoration and renewable energy.

Every action is traceable. Every tree is accounted for. You can see the projects, explore the data, and track your own personal or business climate impact on a public profile — like mine:

What drew me to Ecologi wasn’t just their transparency. It was their belief that collective, consistent action matters. That you don’t need to be perfect to make a difference — you just need to start.

Creative Business, Conscious Impact

There’s a tension in creative industries that we don’t talk about enough: we want to do work that inspires, connects, and uplifts — but that work often involves carbon-heavy tools. We fly drones. We drive long distances to events. We light scenes and power kit. And in the rush to deliver, it’s easy to forget that all of this has an impact.

For me, contributing to Ecologi is a way of acknowledging that tension — and choosing to act, rather than ignore it.

It’s not a complete offset. It’s not a license to carry on unchecked. But it is a way of balancing the scales, of showing up with a little more care and responsibility in how I operate.

And more than that, it’s about aligning the work I do with the values I live by.

What Does This Actually Achieve?

The impact is real. Every pound I contribute goes toward verified projects, with Ecologi working alongside partners such as Eden Reforestation ProjectsGold Standard, and the Verified Carbon Standard to ensure credibility and long-term results.

Here are just a few examples of where those contributions go:

  • Protecting the Amazon basin by funding deforestation prevention in Peru
  • Generating wind power in Thailand to replace fossil-fuel energy
  • Reforesting mangroves in Madagascar, one of the most powerful carbon sinks on the planet
  • Planting native trees across Kenya to restore biodiversity and support local communities

These aren’t faceless projects. They’re part of a global ecosystem of change, and Ecologi makes that impact visible, credible, and accessible.

What’s Next?

I don’t have all the answers. But I do believe in progress over perfection — in making better choices as I go. Supporting Ecologi is one of those choices. And over time, it becomes part of the story I tell through my business: one of intention, creativity, and care.

So, if you’re a creative, a business owner, or just someone wondering how to start — this is an invitation. You don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. But you can take one small step. And then another. That’s how we move forward.
